When our Account Executive, Bill Roberts, isn’t beavering away at his desk, there’s nothing he enjoys more than a game of golf.

“I love Golf, but it doesn’t always love me!”

I’ve been playing golf on and off for over 30 years, although I only got into the game more seriously when I finally stopped playing football about 3 years ago, through the encouragement of my son, Ben.

When I started playing golf all those years ago, I only played around 3 or 4 times a year with friends or when invited by others.

I currently play regularly with my son Ben at 2 local golf courses and Ben has recently joined as a member at Greetham Valley, where the course is a bit more challenging.   I also enjoy playing at other courses with friends or invitations to corporate events, including Milton Golf Course, where Insurewise is a corporate member,  but it does make it more difficult to improve my handicap.

The best venue I’ve played is at Woburn Abbey Golf Course, the picture above was taken on the course at Woburn with colleague, Neil McCulloch, and fellow player, Alan McCulloch.  My favourite player of all time is Seve Ballesteros because of his ability to get out of any problem with little fuss and make it look easy.  Something I aspire to achieve in my own game.

The course I would like to play on is Sawgrass in Florida (USA) the home of The Players’ Championship as I’ve enjoyed watching some of the best golfers in the world “mess it up“ there.  So, it would be a great experience to play the 17th hole there without the eyes of the world watching me.  The good thing about it is that Sawgrass is a municipal course, so anyone can play on it, not just the golfing elite.

I’ll keep on getting some rounds in, spending quality time with family, friends and work colleagues,  and hopefully improve my game further in the future to keep me out of mischief when I’m away from the office.
